What does the word “Impact” mean to you? As Iotas, our very own history is all about Impact. Our most honorable founders decided on this journey with the word “impact” as a driving force. Today, the chapters and Brothers in DC.MD.DE are adopting the word as their driving force for all the things they do. Brothers are getting engaged in social and community activities, events, and driving the name of Iota into the homes of many that reside in those States, including the District. Recently, many brothers represented and continue to represent the Fraternity at various Homecoming events, service events, engagements, and interactions with educational Institutions to change the status quo of our people.
One of the biggest impact actions recently was the installation of a Monument at Towson University, bearing the name “Iota Phi Theta Fraternity, Incorporated”. This impact action commemorates Rho chapter to have the 1st ever monument at a Predominately White Institution and the 2nd Monument for the Fraternity in the State of Maryland. In addition, Brothers came together and donated $10,000 to an initiative at Towson University to install a monument that commemorates Black Greeks at the Institution reaching their 50th Anniversary.
Rho Chapter – Towson University – is the first Black Greek Organization chapter at Towson University to successfully reach the 50th year marker which puts them in the light to lead the effort for others. The Brothers and Chapters in DC.MD.DE are excited, rallying up, and feeling energized to serve and shape the future for the entire Region. With upholding the principles of the Fraternity and Brotherhood driving them, they have what it takes to be “the man!” #ItTakesAMan
