The COVID-19 Pandemic forced the leadership of the Eastern Region to re-evaluate how the operational structure of the Region has been and with 2021 almost over, it seems that 2022 is gearing up to be a fast and very engaging year. This understanding is why the Region leadership is excited to meet in Raleigh, North Carolina on December 18th, 2021 to finalize many of the paths and approaches for 2022.
Speaking with Regional Polaris, Brother Stephen Okoba, highlighted how the Pandemic severely impacted the Undergraduate Structure for the Region which resulted in historically low intake numbers, events and social presence, and an all-time low on undergraduate member engagement. However, this unfortunate realization is one of the reasons why he pivoted many of the focuses for 2021 into 2022 to the Undergraduate engagement and push for reactivations of our dying chapters.
Today, the Eastern Region is excited to continue the Reactivation Goals of targeting many of our single-lettered chapters and eliminating many of the hurdles that have plagued the Region when it comes to reactivation. Part of this goal is to shine a light on chapters that require reactivation, as well as, those that need the support and help to sustain membership into 2022 and beyond.
Recently, Xi Chapter – Fayetteville State University completed their Fall 21 Intake season by adding 6 New Iota men to the fold. "I.S. The uneXpected heIst" is the first membership intake class since 2018, potentially marking a sign of things to come from one of North Carolina's single-letter chapters. This success has sparked new energy in the great state of North Carolina and spread across the Region. Some of the chapters in discussion for Reactivation are Zeta Chapter (North Carolina A&T), Kappa Chapter, Mu Chapter, Psi Chapter, Gamma Chapter, and many more. Today, the Region leadership are gearing up for a major push in 2022 for membership engagement and one way you can help drive this is to get involved with a local chapter, and be part of the positive change that is needed for Iota to be available in the years to come.
